Abstract

Bioactive substances obtained from food sources, known as nutraceuticals, have become a viable strategy in both therapeutic and preventative medicine. They include probiotics, vitamins, polyphenols, omega-3 fatty acids, functional foods, dietary supplements, and fortified foods that have immunomodulatory, cardiometabolic, neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. Their bioavailability, effectiveness, and potential for incorporation into precision healthcare have all been improved by recent developments in nutrigenomics, tailored nutrition, and nano-formulations. Despite their increasing significance, issues with safety, clinical evidence, regulatory frameworks, and formulation uniformity still exist. With a focus on their growing significance in contemporary healthcare and disease prevention, this review offers a thorough overview of nutraceuticals' classification, methods of action, health advantages, safety concerns, regulatory elements, and future prospects. The information offered could help researchers, medical professionals, and legislators create evidence-based nutraceutical initiatives to promote world health.
